Job Description:
We are seeking a Senior Python Package Integration Engineer with 10+ years of software development experience and strong expertise in Python, package management, dependency resolution, and CI/CD. The ideal candidate will be responsible for upgrading and integrating third-party Python packages while resolving compatibility, build, packaging, and automated testing issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Upgrade and maintain third-party Python packages across supported Python versions.
- Troubleshoot dependency, API, import, packaging, build, and test failures.
- Manage Python dependencies using pip, PyPI, wheels, and virtual environments.
- Update package metadata, build configurations, and dependency requirements.
- Diagnose CI/CD and presubmit failures using logs and debugging techniques.
- Reconcile local patches with upstream open-source package changes.
- Develop and execute automated tests to validate package upgrades and prevent regressions.
- Collaborate with development, DevOps, security, and build teams to resolve complex integration issues.
- Maintain technical documentation for package upgrades, compatibility, patches, and known issues.
- Support remediation of security vulnerabilities in open-source dependencies.
Required Skills
- 10+ years of software development experience with strong hands-on Python development.
- Excellent Python debugging and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong experience with pip, PyPI, Python wheels, virtual environments, and packaging.
- Experience with pytest or equivalent testing frameworks.
- Strong understanding of dependency management and version compatibility.
- Hands-on experience with Git, Linux, scripting, CI/CD, and log analysis.
- Experience integrating and maintaining open-source Python packages.
- Strong problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Poetry or setuptools.
- Knowledge of native C/C++ extension builds.
- Experience with Bazel and large monorepositories.
- Experience with security remediation and dependency vulnerability management.
- Familiarity with enterprise-scale build and release environments.
