Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled Mainframe Developer with 10+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise mainframe environments. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in JCL, Fiserv PEP+, z/OS, and DB2, along with a strong background in application development, platform engineering, system optimization, and mainframe modernization initiatives. This individual will serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and play a key role in supporting mission-critical business applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, implement, and maintain enterprise mainframe applications and infrastructure solutions.
  • Create, modify, and optimize JCL for complex batch processing, scheduling, and system automation.
  • Provide production support and administration for Fiserv PEP+ payment processing environments.
  • Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot applications running on z/OS platforms.
  • Design and optimize DB2 databases, SQL queries, and application performance.
  • Serve as a Mainframe SME, providing technical leadership, mentoring, and best practices guidance.
  • Support platform engineering efforts, including automation, reliability improvements, and operational excellence.
  • Participate in system performance monitoring, capacity planning, tuning, and optimization activities.
  • Manage software deployments, change management processes, release planning, and contingency procedures.
  • Lead or support mainframe migration, modernization, and infrastructure upgrade projects.
  • Evaluate third-party tools, technologies, and vendor solutions to support strategic platform decisions.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and architecture standards.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, infrastructure teams, developers, and external vendors to deliver reliable solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with enterprise security, governance, and operational standards.
Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in Mainframe Development, Engineering, and Production Support.
  • Strong hands-on expertise with JCL (Job Control Language).
  • Extensive experience supporting and enhancing Fiserv PEP+ environments.
  • Deep knowledge of z/OS operating systems and mainframe architecture.
  • Strong experience with DB2, including database design, SQL development, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
  • Expertise in enterprise mainframe operating systems, hardware platforms, and utilities.
  • Experience with software change management, release management, and configuration control processes.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently in remote and distributed team environments.
  • Experience supporting high-volume, mission-critical enterprise applications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience supporting large-scale financial services, banking, or payment processing systems.
  • Exposure to mainframe modernization, cloud integration, or migration initiatives.
  • Experience with scheduling tools such as CA-7, Control-M, or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of CICS, COBOL, VSAM, IMS, MQ Series, and related mainframe technologies.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and technical documentation skills.
  • Experience leading technical teams and mentoring junior developers.
